Saving and conflicts

Keep your entered work and make an explicit choice when the saved record has changed.

Reviewed

  1. Keep the tab open if you can.
  2. Read the message in the editor. A lost response can mean the save completed but confirmation did not arrive.
  3. Choose Retry saving task or Retry saving project. HarborDock retries the original attempt, rather than creating a duplicate.
  4. Wait for confirmation before starting a replacement record.

The recovery copy can survive a reload in the same tab. It is not a backup service: clearing browser storage, closing the tab or deliberately discarding private work can remove it.

Open the editor’s action to review the current saved record. Compare its values with your entered edit.

  • Choose Use saved task or Use saved project to replace your local edit with that saved version.
  • Choose Keep my edit or Keep my project edit to keep your entered values, then save again against the revision you just reviewed.

In the full task or project editor, keeping your edit retains all your entered fields. In a task row’s Owner, Date or Status editor, it retains only that selected field and takes the other values from the reviewed task. Read the comparison before deciding. If someone saves again, you may need another comparison.

Open Workspace timezone in Today. Retry timezone save checks an interrupted save using the same request. Review current timezone loads the latest setting so you can choose Use saved timezone or Keep my timezone, then save again. Changing this setting requires current workspace-owner editing access. Losing that access keeps your entered value but disables saving.

A validation error keeps your entered text so you can correct it. Check required fields and dates, then save again. A browser-storage error is different: keep the tab open while storage is unavailable because a durable recovery copy cannot be guaranteed.

If a saved-view or recent-work change is not confirmed, open Search workspace with an empty search field. Retry navigation save checks the same request, including after reload in the same tab. The view name stays locked while that request is unresolved.

If another tab changed the list, use Review current navigation. The current list loads and the entered view name is kept so you can make a new, explicit choice. Discard pending change and refresh abandons a pending local retry; a change already saved on the server remains visible in the refreshed list. An unreadable recovery copy must be discarded explicitly before another navigation change.

You change the fictional North Pier launch date while a teammate changes its brief. The editor shows the newer saved project before you decide which values to keep. It does not quietly overwrite the teammate’s work.

These recovery steps describe task/project editors, workspace timezone and personal navigation. Other tools retain their own save controls. Recovery is scoped to your account, workspace and tab; a different account cannot use your private draft. Signing out can explicitly discard private local work, and a revoked session must be restored before you can save.

Recoverable drafts do not grant access, change accepted terms or approve outputs. Read Create a project for the boundary between a working brief and agreed scope.
